We have updated the award name on the platform to "Educational Services (Teachers) Award [MA000077]".

We have updated the award to reflect the Fair Work Commission's National Minimum Wage increase detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2023-24 decision and also includes updates to expense-related allowances. You can find more information on the Determinations here and here.

These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after the 1st July 2024. Please install these updates after you have finalised your last pay run before the first full pay period beginning on or after the 1st July 2024.

We have also updated the "Community Service Leave Taken" pay category, where it accrues leave. The payment classification has also been updated in line with the ATO specification categories.

The Education (Teachers) Casual - Long Day Care Centres and Education (Teachers) Permanent - Long Day Care Centres rule sets has been updated to include a rule for Paid Family Domestic Violence Leave.

Director's Allowance and Leadership Allowance have also been updated so they are not paid as all-purpose allowances as indicated in the pay guide.

Work types

Work types are a description of the kind of shift you are working, and you select them when you record a timesheet. The following is a list of work types employees can select on their timesheet, and the meaning of each item.

A - F
10-hour shift (approved by employee) Choose this work type when, the employee is rostered for up to 10 hours (rather than the usual eight hours). It only applies to employees employed in early childhood services operating for at least 48 weeks per year.
Annual leave Choose this work type when annual leave is taken.
Children’s or early childhood service up to 2 hours Choose this work type when a casual employee in a children’s service or early childhood education service will be paid for a minimum of two hours where they are required to work for up to 2 hours.
Children’s or early childhood service up to 4 hours Choose this work type when a casual employee in a children’s service or early childhood education service will be paid for a minimum of four hours where they are required to work for more than 2 hours and up to 4 hours.
Compassionate leave taken Choose this work type when compassionate leave is taken.
Directors Allowance Level 1 (<40 places) Choose this work type when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible is up to 39.
Directors Allowance Level 2 (40-59 places) Choose this work type when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible is from 40 to 59.
Directors Allowance Level 3 (60+ places) Choose this work type when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible is 60 or more.
Educational leader allowance Choose this work type when an employee is required to discharge the responsibilities of the educational leader under Regulation 118 of the National Regulations. This only applies to teachers in the children’s services and early childhood education industry.
Family and domestic violence leave taken Choose this work type when family and domestic violence leave is taken.
G - L
Leadership allowance - Level 1A Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be more than 600 students and they will be responsible for the management of a major department or a pastoral care or educational leadership position of equivalent status.
Leadership allowance - Level 1B Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be between 300 and 600 students and they will be responsible for the management of a major department or a pastoral care or educational leadership position of equivalent status.
Leadership allowance - Level 1C Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be between 100 and 299 students and they will be responsible for the management of a major department or a pastoral care or educational leadership position of equivalent status.
Leadership allowance - Level 2A Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be more than 600 students and they will be leaders for such things as small learning area department heads, have additional responsibilities such as co-ordination of a school publication, sports co-ordinator or similar responsibilities.
Leadership allowance - Leader 2B Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be between 300 and 600 students and they will be leaders for such things as small learning area department heads, have additional responsibilities such as co-ordination of a school publication, sports co-ordinator or similar responsibilities.
Leadership allowance - Level 2C Choose this work type when an employer requires a teacher in a school to perform administrative, pastoral care and/or educational leadership duties additional to those usually required of teachers by the employer. The school size will be between 100 and 299 students and they will be leaders for such things as small learning area department heads, have additional responsibilities such as co-ordination of a school publication, sports co-ordinator or similar responsibilities.

Long service leave Choose this work type when long service leave is taken.
M - R
Meal break on-site Choose this work type where a teacher employed in an early childhood service is required to remain on the premises during their meal break. Such a meal break will be paid.
Minimum half-day Choose this work type when a casual employee employed in a school needs to be paid a minimum of half a day. 
Personal/carer's leave taken Choose this work type when personal or carer's leave is taken and the business accrues the leave in hours.
Public holiday worked Use this work type where an employee has worked on a gazetted public holiday.
S - Z
Time in lieu taken Choose this work type when time in lieu is taken.
Time off in lieu of overtime Use this work type when an employee elects to receive time off in lieu rather than be paid for any overtime they are entitled to for this shift. This only applies to employees employed in early childhood services operating for at least 48 weeks per year.
Unpaid leave Choose this work type when unpaid leave is taken.
Unpaid pandemic leave taken Choose this work type when unpaid pandemic leave is taken.
Vehicle allowance - car Choose this work type where an employer requests an employee to use their own motor vehicle to perform work duties. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field, i.e. 1 (one) unit is equivalent to 1 (one) kilometre.
Vehicle allowance - motorcycle Choose this work type where an employer requests an employee to use their own motorcycle to perform work duties. The kilometres travelled should be entered into the ‘units’ field, i.e. 1 (one) unit is equivalent to 1 (one) kilometre.
Working through a meal break Choose this work type when an employee is called back to perform any duties within the centre or the break is interrupted for any reason. This only applies to employees employed in early childhood services operating for at least 48 weeks per year. 

Tags

Employee Tags are specific conditions typically related to the employee’s agreement. These are often conditions negotiated and agreed between the employer and the employee, or unique characteristics of the employee’s role. Payment of these provisions is usually of a recurring and ongoing nature.

A - F
Director's allowance level 1 Assign this tag when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible is up to 39.
Director's allowance level 2 Assign this tag when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible is from 40 to 59.
Director's allowance level 3 Assign this tag when an employee is appointed as a Director and the number of places in the centre for which they are responsible for is 60 or more.
Educational leader allowance Assign this tag when an employee is required to discharge the responsibilities of the educational leader under Regulation 118 of the National Regulations. This only applies to a teacher in the children’s services and early childhood education industry.

M - R
Permanent night shift worker Assign this tag to an employee who is rostered on a non-rotating night shift whereby their shifts do not rotate or alternate with other shifts so as to give the employee at least one third of their shifts off night shift in each roster cycle.
RDO entitlement Assign this tag to an employee where agreement has been made between the employee and employer that the employee will accrue 24 minutes for each 8-hour day worked to give the employee an entitlement to take rostered days off. This only applies to employees employed in early childhood services operating for at least 48 weeks per year.
S - Z
Shift worker Apply this tag to an employee who is undertaking shift work. This only applies to employees employed in early childhood services operating for at least 48 weeks per year.
Time in lieu of overtime Assign this tag if the employee elects to always accrue time in lieu rather than be paid overtime.
