Rate Loadings – What Do You Need To Know?

Pay categories have the ability to set a rate (and penalty) loading, which can then be applied to the base rate supplied for an employee. For example, if you have a base rate of $10 and set a rate loading of 50%, then the linked rate will be $15.

Set or adjust rate loading

You can set or adjust the rate loading for a pay category by following these steps:

  1. Go to 'Payroll Settings' and then select 'Pay Categories'
  2. Click on the pay category you'd like to adjust the rate loading for to expand the details of the pay category. In this example, we're going to adjust "casual - ordinary hours":

  3. This will expand the pay category details. You can then apply the appropriate rate or penalty loading to the base and linked pay categories

Once you're done setting the relevant loading, click "Save".
