Compassionate Leave - Paid - How to Set Up

Paid Compassionate Leave is generally granted by most organisations. 

Compassionate Leave does NOT accrue therefore, there is no leave balance for this type of leave. Your payroll platform can track the number of compassionate days taken by an employee without accruing or recording a balance.

To set up paid Compassionate Leave within your payroll platform you will need to follow these steps:

Set up Compassionate Leave from Payroll Settings > Pay Run Settings > Leave Categories.




Name the leave category something like Compassionate Leave.

Apply an external Id.

Select the leave category type "standard"

Select not tracked for the employee leave balance.

Select to Report the earnings for the leave taken against another pay category "Compassionate Leave Taken" and use the pay rate of Employee's primary pay category.
